I'm working on a new primer about the history, culture and literature of the Scottish Highlands. It is a successor to my previous Handbook of the Scottish Gaelic World and will represent a substantial expansion of the materials and themes there. It will appear in Spring 2009 from Scottish publisher Birlinn.

My first work of fiction, a short novella written in Gaelic, appeared at the end of 2007 from Sandstone Press.

I'm completing work on a project funded by the Digital Humanities Initiative of the National Endowment for the Humanities. (See here for the official annoucement.) The project, which I call "Finding the Celtic," has three main goals:

• To configure the online collaboratory tool COLLEX for Celtic Studies.
• To extend COLLEX with information visualization capabilities
• To create a sample database of Celtic Studies data so as to demonstrate and test these extensions
